We stayed 5 nights in on of the bure's of the Sigasiga Sands resort, not the villa. This is a great little house! Very good holiday spot to relax. Really quiet and beautiful surroundings. Everything is very well maintained and I believe completely renovated last year. Every detail is taken good care of, and very clean and complete. Everything you wish for inside. Nice porch on the seaside. 1 minute walk to the beach!
The service is outstanding, It is officially a self contained house. But all meals can be ordered with the owner Gene and his wife, or with the great Indo-Fijian family that also lives on the grounds about 100 meters further. Meals are excellent, especially the Thai food that his wife Sala makes.
Gene is a very friendly guy, likes a chat, and provides very personal service. Most services are offered for free, as a very good internet line, rental video's and so on. Very good hot shower. Really nice and complete kitchen in seperate building, 1 meter away.
Location is about 11 km from town. Taxi's can be booked for about 8 Fiji dollars, or take a very fun bus at the main road, only departs a few times a day. The little beach is great. Even a small shed with 2 beach beds is made at the front of the house. It's a bit of a shame that you have to walk about 400 meters trough the shallow lagoon to the reef shore. Bring reef shoes! But you'll be rewarded with fantastic snorkelling! Visibilty must be around 30 meters for sure. The coral is just excellent. sealife as well. Saw turtles and sharks every day! But for that we had to cross the 2nd reef into the open ocean, which is quite a dangerous task, as the reef is shallow and very sharp if you get hit by a wave. But possible. There is an opening trough the reef about 200 meters to the right. Gotta search good.
The indian family is great! Spend an evening drinking Kava/ Groc with them.
We had some trouble with wasps inside the house during afternoon. But they were lazy and not aggressive. Easily killed, and Gene is solving this at the moment.
I absolutely recommend this place!
