Hi everyone,

I am going travelling next year, and finishing my trip off by spending some time in Fiji (around July/August). I am looking at doing the Bula Pass for 14days. Am I right in saying I can stop up AND down the yasawa Islands, or can i only come back down when my pass is running out?

I'm looking at accommodation at the moment, and wondered if anyone could recommend me any nice places to stay? I'm not looking for the most expensive accommodation as I am travelling alone, nor am I looking for a 'big party scene.' I have looked so far at Manta Ray & Octopus which look quite nice!!

All idea's welcome :)

Thanks
Claire

I suggest that you also check out Oarsman's Bay Resort on Nucula Is.

hi,

i was in fiji travelling on my own earlier this year. i flew into nadi from brisbane. i was told about a hostel to stay at that was cheaper than the others. cant remember the name but it was right next to smuggles cove which was a nicer hostel but twice as expensive. i spent most of my time in the smugglers cove and met loads of people that i ended up travelling around with for the next few weeks.

i went to beachcomber which is not as loud as they make it out to be rather more relaxed with everyone chatting...and the food was great! i also went up to nacula lodge which was nice, we stayed in huts on the beach....very quiet in the evenings as they turn the lights off at 10pm.

make sure you head into nadi as well, its definately worth an afternoon!!!

hope you have fun

Hello,
I would highly recommend Manta Ray Island. I stayed there for 3 days back in March and it was absolutely beautiful. It's pretty quiet during the day and can get kind of rowdy at night with games, bonfires, and drinking. The best part is the reef right off the beach. I spent hours snorkeling along the shore just looking at all of the marine life.
If you're not a party person I would avoid beachcomber. Some of my friends went there and they said it was a lot of fun, but pretty loud and lots of drinking.

If you decide to hang out on the mainland of Viti Levu, I would recommend that you check out The Uprising Beach Resort. It is in Pacific Harbour, about 40 minutes West of Suva. It is a really nice place with an incredible beach and it is very reasonably priced if you stay in the dorm or with a group of friends in a Bure. If you are a student, they also often offer discounts on accomodation. Pick up to go on Rivers Fiji trips as well as a few different dive operators is also available.
Have a great time!
