Spending a day in Suva

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Well not really a day - but maybe a business day (9-5) and wonder what folks think would be good ideas as to how to spend it. We are coming in on a cruise in October and would like to hear some suggestions about things to do or places to see or?

In Suva? :-(
The museum is excellent. Worth paying a guide too.
Take a walk thru the market, but keep your hand on your wallet.

Cheers,
Peter

In Suva? :-)

I rather enjoyed just wandering around. Some streets have balconied wooden buildings, picturesque in a minor sort of way. You want to get to the streets inland from the market area and heading to the museum. Suva seemed more pleasant the longer I was there, not a lot there for a one-day tourist stop. Oddly enough, I never got around to the museum, which is supposed to be worthwhile.

The museum and a general wander (suprisingly enjoyable), it's not a giant place, but there's some fairly good places to eat/have a coffee, just be aware that if someone tries to offer you a 'gift' to politely decline....
