Sun Loungers

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

We are travelling to Fiji next month for a three-week stay close to Sigatoka on Viti Levu.

We are used to travelling throughout SE Asia where many beachside restaurants have sun beds & umbrellas. This doesn't appear to be the case on Fiji unless you use the facilities of hotels.

Is this the case everywhere? We expect to be enjoying some beach time around Natalado up to (and maybe beyond) Sunset Strip.

Many thanks.

You will really only find sun beds and umbrellas at resorts. The areas around Fijian villages are private and the public does not generally visit without an invitation

Beachfront hotels generally have bars and restaurants on-site overlooking the beach unless it’s an exclusive property. By ordering drinks or food, most hotels have no problem if you enjoy your refreshments by the pool or on the beach on their chaise lounges.

There are only one or two half decent beaches on Viti Levu anyway, and none in the Sigatoka area, in my opinion.
Get out to the Yasawas :)
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks jb and kenko. I have written to several beachside hotels today and received very positive and welcoming replies to use their facilities.

peter_n_margaret, two half decent beaches will be fine for us coupled with four days at a Beqa Island resort. The Yasawas has never been on our list but thanks for your input and suggestion.
