| bulaperry02:10 UTC15 Mar 2010 | Sadly the Sunset Motel on Gordon St, Suva no longer has dorms available, just rooms for FJD$60 per night. I stayed instead at the South Seas Hostel where dorms are $15 & a private room with a single bed is $25 per night. I had a good time in Suva, the only thing that annoyed me was being served cold food at cheap eats places - cold chips & even a cold curry. I kept forgetting to ask before paying: "Is the food served hot?" :) A man with a Suva Council tag sat next to me in Ratu Sukuna Park, initially chatting, then trying to sell me village visits & at the end he pulled a sword out of his bag. I politely refused, half expecting that old chestnut & walked off. I vaguely remember him or someone like him from 7 years ago, whom I naively bought a pair of swords from nearby, which aren't traditional Fijian craftworks. The South Seas Hostel has several shelves of a bookcase full of them! Fiji is a great destination though, a village stay is especially a wonderful insight into how Fijians really live.
