surf in fiji

hey crew, i'm looking at travelling to fiji with some friends later this year, to go surfing. this is our main aim, all other things like luxury and culture are secondary. we are on a backpackers budget

can you give me some handy info on surf spots, accessability, travel and accom?

we are all average surfers, no pros............ so keen to get some fun breaks. are there any beachies or reefs that are paddling distance from shore?

You can paddle straight out the front of Hideaway Resort on the Coral Coast. Also, as already mentioned, Sigatoka Rivermouth (go to the sand dunes and walk to your left). Plus, occasionally there is enough swell to surf the beachies at Natadola. Most other breaks are boat trips - but well worth the cost and time...usually! Take your own supplies ie wax, spare fins and leggies. It's expensive to buy surf gear in Fiji..
