surf lessons / camp in fiji for beginners

can anyone recommend a surf instructor or camp type place for 5 days or so of surf lessons?

we are not terribly interested in staying at an all inclusive resort to get this, but was hoping someone would know or be able to recommend someone for this?

There are supposed to be quite a few spots for surfing in Fiji, but I have only had experience of one, Maqai Beach on Qamea Island. Although it is a "resort" with meals available, you don't have to stay in their huts if you have a budget difficulty. They have tents available as well, very cheap! Many of the surf spots in Fiji require you to go out in a boat to get the reef breaks and Maqai Beach also requires this. This is not the easiest for beginners. The people at Maqai Beach are wonderful and Henry, the surf instructor, was very patient with his clients. You need to do a google search and contact places to see if they cater for beginners. Qamea Island is off the coast of Taveuni. Maybe it will suit your needs.
