SURFING IN FIJI

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there we are travelling to fiji at the end of the year and were wondering where are the best places to stay if we are wanting to surf, There are soo many to choose from. I have heard that you can get out to the reefs for F40 dont really want to stay on the coral coast we want to stay on an island.

Funky Fish is reasonably close to the surf breaks and is relatively cheap.
Still have to get to the surf breaks by boat but that applies to most resorts.

All the locals mainly from Nadi surf at Natadola beach.

A friend of mine stayed at Waidroka on the coral coast and loved it. He paid $1000 FJD for 7 days which included bure accom, all transfers to the surf breaks/snorkelling and all meals. It worked out to be pretty good value I think. The main break near there is Frigates Passage, but there are a number of others too, mostly deserted apparently. The diving in Beqa lagoon is supposed to be amazing too.

As far as I know there is nowhere to stay on Natadola except the huge resort (I could be wrong) and it is tough to get to from Nadi or Sigatoka without your own transport. I have seen the beachbreak (go at high tide), a bit of fun but nothing too impressive. The real action is on the reef which you can wade/paddle to (take booties), but I don't think it is the same quality as the offshore breaks.
