Suva VS Nadi

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hello i am from New Zealand and I'm thinking about going to Fiji for some days (less than a week). Is Suva any good or is it enough to go to Nadi and Lautoka ?
Also how do the public buses work ?
Thanks !

Suva is much nicer and more interesting than either Nadi or Lautoka, though Nadi is a handy base for quick trips to the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands.
The public buses are basic but cheap and frequent, meaning they work perfectly fine.

Thank you for the advice ! Do you know where I could find the public buses planing ?

At the respective bus stations in Nadi and Suva. :-)
There is no need to plan anything in advance. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and advance booking is unnecessary.

you can fly direct to Suva now from NZ, not sure what days or where from in NZ, there are interesting things to see in Suva, and easy to get to close by islands like Leluvia or Ovalau, you can check the Pacific Bus time table on line but there are others, and could also go for a round the island bus ride stopping in Raki Raki for a night and see Lautoka on the way

I lived in both Nadi and Suva when I lived in Fiji. The best place to spend time, in my opinion, would be the Pacific Harbour. It was always my favorite spot in the country to chill out.
