Tambua Sands Resort, Coral Coast

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Tambua Sands was "the pick" of the Coral Coast by your author in the 2009 edition of "Fiji". My wife and I stayed there upon this recommendation from October 13 to 19, 2011. Since the report was printed this property was purchased by the Warwick Group. It lost its soul and is a far cry from what your writer had experienced. Although the location is of course superb, and the facilities are acceptable, though basic, the ambiance and presentation, breakfast and meals on offer are well below expectation. Entertainment or resort based activities do no longer exist.
Jack, the manager, hinted that the property will be developed into a 5 star :Warwick" resort with respective price levels. This was corroborated by the still friendly staff, who worry about their jobs.
I would suggest Lonely Planet to get my story verified, and to withdraw their recommendation.

There goes the neighbourhood! Wish they'd leave well enough alone...

What a shame.
I remember some years ago when it was run by Geoff Raymond, the former TV newsreader. It was a laid back lovely place. Very well run it was.
