teaching in fijiCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
anyone here have experience teaching in Fiji? specifically at any international schools.
I have not taught in Fiji, but was interested in doing so and checked out the international school in Suva and the small international school in Pacific Harbor while visiting a couple years ago. Both were very nice with good facilities and what seemed to be solid curriculums. However, the pay was very low and I was told that if I did not have a spouse working in another field that it would be quite hard to survive on the salary. I did not check into any public schools. Good Luck. | 1
I did teach in Fiji at the international school in Suva and found not only could I live on the pay but actually save money. This is because I was hired from overseas and on expat conditions. If you get hired locally, yes you probably will struggle to live well on the salary paid. There is also an itnernationals chool in Nadi. However to teach in either you would have to commit yourself for one, probably 2 years. | 2
Does anybody know how on my gap year i can teach for a few days in fiji? i'm happy to do volunteer work and only have the weekend TEFL certificate but i'd like to do it for the experience not the money. | 3
