The least crowded island in Fiji ?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hi, We are planning to travel to Fiji for 2-3 weeks in the end of August this year. Which island/islands would you recommend for us:
Thanks for the tips already in advance! Edited by: liz_123
the best place to fit all you are asking for is Lawaki http://www.fijihomestays.com/homestays/lawaki-beach-house no crowds, snorkeling is in the Beqa Lagoon (fantastic and right off the beach) fantastic beach and plenty of nature you will not be disappointed. | 1
Caqali and Leleuvia island off the south coast of Ovalau island are fantastic beach resort islands which are extremely close by the small island of Moturiki (a definitely true, rural Fijian island with no electricity or roads). I worked as a volunteer teacher and stayed at Caqali with some friends. It's a nice communal place where the staff remember your names from day one and you get to stay in "Fijian Bure" accomodation. All meals are cooked for you and eating is communal. You can arrange to visit Moturiki island on Sunday for church and join in or just hang out with the staff on the island and join in kava sessions. It's a small, not very touristy place and everyone will be in the excess of friendly. It's not that secluded as you eat with all the other guests on the island and you can walk around the whole of Caqali in 20minutes. The snorkelling is great, accomodation is VERY simple (cold showers, generator electricity) but, like everywhere in Fiji, it is incredibly friendly. The Yasawa islands also offer what you're looking for, but have more options of accomodation for varying budgets. Haven't been, but I'd check them out. | 2
