| baileysontour22:40 UTC11 Feb 2007 | We have 16 days booked into our RTW ticket for Fiji, and have been looking at lots of places on the internet. We will most likely be heading for the Yasawas, but cant seem to make up our minds where to stay. We have looked at Davids Place (seems good?) and have ruled our Octopus as too busy.
Should we just book up 5 or 7 days at Davids Place and see what else we can book when we get to Nadi, or should we realy get everything booked before we get there? We arrive at 1pm so wont be able to leave for the islands until the next morning so will have some time to "shop around".
We still havent quite decided whether to go for 2 places for a week each and a day on Nadi either side, or 3 places for 5 days each, is it easy/not too expensive to book transfers?
PS. We are travelling with our 2 children aged 8 and 9.

| decdublin16:48 UTC12 Feb 2007 | Hi,
You can definitely book it all when you get there. You'll be welcomed in arrivals at the airport by lots of travel agents eager to help you book. Just have ideas or names of places you would prefer as they will push their own favourites on you.
I'd advise to leave things as flexible as possible. The common view seemed to be to get out of Nadi so we arrived at the airport and booked an overnight stay and then headed out to the yasawas... However we really liked what we saw (briefly!) of Nadi and our budget hotel (Wests Motor Inn) and ended up booking a few nights there at the end of our fiji trip to explore the area, hired a car etc...
It should be easier to add on nights when you want to stay longer at a place than to cancel nights you've pre-booked!
I can highly recommend David's Place, although it was February 2004 when we were there. The staff will be great with your kids, playing volleyball, cracking coconuts etc. We were there with our 2 year old at the time and staff were great with him. There were a few other kids came and went over the week we were there.

But to stay here 7 days would be too much i think. There is not that much to do, and the island itself is very small. There are some trips u can go on, and if u enjoy lazing around doing nothing its a good place. Beautiful water and beaches.
