G'day, Does anyone know of this resort? Is it's reputation ok? I see 15 bures and it sounds expensive. q2. They have a fun golf course on the island, but is there a real golf course within easy access? say Suva? TIA.
I was there maybe 30 years ago. Very nice place back then. Pretty tiny though, you can walk around it in 20 minutes or so, if I remember correctly. Guests use about 3/5 of the island, staff live on the other part. It is pretty expensive. Golf course? Must be pretty tiny! Suva would be the nearest, take the boat to the mainland, etc. etc. OK trip for a day off, but not for after work, etc. | 1

It's tiny all right. all holes par 3, can only play at low tide. Use a wedge for driving chipping and putting. I will have flexibility in hours, so is it possible to arrange a Wednesday off to play on a real course, do you reckon? Google earth isn't helping me re: fiji. | 2
Ah, glad to see they mentioned the sea snakes that will be lazing around on the golf course! A bit disconcerting, but they rarely bother anyone, even in the water. Whether you an get off on Wednesdays really depends on when Toberua's own launch goes back and forth from the mainland. I know it's at least once a day to pick up (and drop off) guests, but not sure if there are two runs a day. Staff do live on the island, so it's not a commute-type situation for them at least for the most part. But it's not a real long distance to the mainland, I think it was maybe 30-40 minutes?? So, maybe you can make a separate arrangement once there for a launch to do your transfers for golf, etc. | 3
If I get the job, you can come over and buy me a beer. ;-) | 4
If you get the job, you can buy me a keg! | 5
ah, missed it. Greg Watson told me he got 93 applications and thought that was good. Using seek, I would reckon 93 applications was very small. Anyway, got the Tonga interview yesterday, so lets hope that one works. Kuwait interview on Monday. | 6
Well, if you haven't tried it yet, I really enjoyed Fiji bitter beer. But drink it before you get to Kuwait! | 7
nah, it's Tonga for me, and Royal beer. | 8
