Tranport around Viti Levu/Yasawas

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I'm booked in for a night on the Coral Coast, with the next night at Octopus Resort in the Yasawas, and was going to take the Yasawa Flyer leaving Denarau Marina at 8.30am. So I'm wondering how long would it take to get from the Coral Coast to Denarau Marina (bus, taxi, car organised by hotel?). Alternatively should I have Octopus Resort organise a boat pick us up later in the day when we can just catch a bus to the Marina?

I was going to Island hop to two other islands on the Flyer, but if I organise a boat with the Resort, would it be better/cheaper to organise transfers directly to the other islands instead of using the Flyer?

you wont get a bus to get you there that early but a taxi is a good option and won't break the bank when its in Fiji dollars, can't give you an idea of the fare as the coral coast covers a fair distance, but its about an hour from Sigatoka to Nadi, the hotel have reliable taxis they can call, the taxi fare from Suva to Nadi is about $200fj, but the bus would cost about $8pp. you have to balance your time at the next resort, can't tell you about the flyer

The Yasawa Flyer (awesomefiji.com) pretty much is the way to go for Yasawa interisland transport. A one-week pass
for passage on the Flyer is probably the best way to go- you can also get passes for longer time periods at additional cost.
A couple resorts will set up their own boat transport, but you won't be saving any money with that alternative. Because of
the 8:30 a.m. departure time for the Yasawa Flyer, you might want to consider going to the Coral Coast after first visiting the Yasawas. Have a great trip!

The Octopus Resort boat does not operate out of the Denarau Marina but goes out of Lautoka, about 30 minutes north of the airport - but it usually does 2 runs a day so it might work for you. The price is the same as the Flyer's. You can also book the flyer to just travel from Octopus to other islands if that would work better for you.

Octopus now has a new boat which is larger than their old one (takes around 25 passengers), leaves from Vuda Marina (near Lautoka, as Newfie says), first boat I think is now 10am, second one is 2pm. It takes only around an hour to get to the resort. If you got a bus to Nadi - Octopus can pick you up with their taxi van to take you to Vuda, you would just have to arrange pick up place and time (maybe the airport?) with their booking office -
The week's pass on the Flyer is possibly not the best option if you are taking the Octopus boat on one leg. Would cost less to get Octopus to book you on the Flyer to your next destination (you pay them when you check out and they give you a voucher for the boat).

Ditch the night at Coral Coast unless you are in that area, its a few hours drive to get back to the Denaru marina and it will be a real hassle to try and do it so early to meet the departure time. I dont think the area is as nice or as fun as the other islands so would rec an extra day there. The later resort boat to octopus direct is worth doing, alternately grab a place in mamanucas for a taste of island life (google reviews as some are better for singles than other islands)
