Transfering between Nadi > Rakiraki > Pacific Harbor > Nadi

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi!

I will be in Fiji in November. I will be landing at 5:15a and catching the 8:30a departure of the Yasawa Flyer for 9 days of traveling around the Yasawa islands. When I finish the "tour", I will arrive back at Port Denarau at 5:45p and I would like to immediately depart for Rakiraki in time for their 8:00a dive boat departures.

After 2 days in Rakiraki, I will be traveling to Pacific Harbor to go to Beqa for another 2 days before heading back to Nadi for an 8:45a departure for Auckland.

Does anyone know the best way to get to each location, travel time and the approximate price? Ideally, I would like to travel at night in order to be at the next location by say 7 in the morning in first thing in time for the departures (dive boat or flight). It might also save me 2 nights accommodations. I know, it's a tight schedule.

Also, is Vanuatu worth visiting? Research shows me that I can only travel there on certain days and the minimum stay is 4 days. I will have about 7 days left, so is it worth 4 days Vanuatu/3 days NZ, or all 7 on New Zealand?

Thank you in advance.

Take a bus.

Nadi to Rakiraki will take about 3 hours and cost about F$10 each way.
Cab from Rakiraki to VoliVoli is $15 each way and takes about 20 minutes. Call Mare on 8365135. He will come and get you.

Cheers,
Peter

You won't see much of New Zealand in 7 days. To give advice on preference, we would need to know what you like to do. I would think you are spending too long in the Yasawas, compared with the time you have available.

In 7 days, you may want to stay one day in Auckland on the way in or out, and the rest of the time in the South island. A good idea would be renting a car at Christchurch airport and start from there. Stay in good 2 days in Queenstown, it's gorgeous, in whatever time of the year.

In Vanuatu, 7 days can be maybe 2 days in the capital (it hasn't much to see, to be honest) and then catch a plane to Espiritu Santo if you like scuba diving. Not sure if there's any point going to Vanuatu if you don't scuba dive. Samoa would be a better option, otherwise (directly flights from Nandi)
