I will be staying in Fiji for 5 days as a layover from my trip home from New Zealand to United States. I land on the main island and would like to venture out. Any suggestions about what island to visit? The purpose of this trip is to enjoy the culture and some R&R on the beaches. Is the main island worthwhile to spend all my 5 days on? Could I do daytrips to the other islands and make the main island my main hub? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Also, I will be traveling alone so romantic ventures is not on my itinerary. Just things to do for a single girl. Thanks!!!
As you are new to TT , your starting point needs to be to do some research yourself. Read previous posts. Get a guide book, and look at the FAQs. All of what you ask has been asked and answered here before many times. "I will be traveling alone so romantic ventures is not on my itinerary. Just things to do for a single girl." - this (the romantics) is of course up to you . Fiji is really quite safe, but like anywhere some degree of caution is required to remain safe. "Is the main island worthwhile to spend all my 5 days on? " - yes "some R&R on the beaches" - the best beaches are NOT in Nadi nor Lautoka . You will need to go to the islands, or if on "the main island", near the Coral Coast, which is NOT near the ports, and thus not convenient for island visits. | 1
Thank you. I have done some research and bought a travel guide. I also read some previous threads. I just wanted others ideas who have been there for recommendations. Thanks. | 2
Hi there, I visited Fiji last June as single girl. I arrived there and went on a pre booked 'Feejee experience' around the mainland, it was just fantastic, but very energetic. I did this for 4 days, but if you're there for r&r there are pnety and nice relaxing islamds to visit. I visited Kuata, very small, but I experienced real Fijian culture there, the locals like tourists to try 'kava' it's a drink made from plant extract, it numbs your tongue for a little while, and can make you hallucinate if you drink enough of it, it doesn't taste good, it tastes of swamp water, but hey. I also went to Naviti Island, Korovou. It was realxing there, with arger beaches, walks, and one very secluded beach called 'Honeymoon beach' there was no one there, it was really relaxing. All places are good for snorkelling as far as I know. I tried swimming with sharks in Kuata, that was an experience! | 3
