Travelling between Octopus Resort and Lomani Resort

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi, I am having trouble trying to find a way to transfer between Octopus Resort on Waya in the Yasawas to Lomani Island Resort on Plantation Island resort in the Mamanucas. The Yasawa Flyer doesn't seem to link the two and at the moment the only option I can see, is to go head back to the mainland. Any ideas welcome. Cheers. N

The trip back to Lautoka from Octopus is free albeit slow. And it's just 15km from the mainland to Lomani.

If money is not that important, try a floatplane from Octopus to Lomani. If you and your's, plus baggage, weigh less than 800 lbs, a Cessna 206 is probably the most cost effective air transport.

You could possibly also charter a boat direct from Octopus, but it would be small and uncomfortable.

The Yasawa Flyer drops off at Beachcomber on the way back to the mainland. It might be possible to organise a local boat to transfer you to Plantation from there - but I can't suggest a contact.

(The Octopus boat is not "free" - they do charge guests for the trip - but it is cheaper than the Flyer .) A float plane, even if within your budget, is dependent on the sea conditions, so you could not guarantee that they could pick you up on any given day.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Have sorted the journey out and for info, Octopus doesn't drop off anywhere on route to Nadi, so we are doing the Flyer to Beachcomber Island then Lomani have arranged a taxi for circa F$200. We also looked into a water taxi and again for info, cost between Octopus and Lomani was going to be circa F$1,000.
