Hi, im planning on doing 3 weeks in Fiji Next January/February as part of my solo travels home from Australia to Ireland. I have Many questions and queries as regards traveling Fiji
most planes fly in Nadi, with a couple of countries who do fly into Suva (Nausori) but not every day. you don't say where you are coming from, this tour really only shows you one well trod tourist trail of Fiji, and while that area is great you are missing so much of Fiji's other islands, in three weeks you could travel around Viti Levu, the main Island by bus, stop at the Beachhouse, see Suva, visit Leleuvia and Ovalau, get the ferry to Vana Levu eg Savusavu and Labassa, then to Taveuni, interesting waterfalls, and perhaps still have some time in the islands you mention. Bus fares are cheap | 1
If 6 islands in 12 days is your idea of seeing as much as possible, we may not have much in common regarding travel philosophies. Take the Yasawa flyer on your own. You can "see" even more than 6 islands in one day! Don't laugh this off as ridiculous. It all comes down to where anyone wants to draw the line: how much seeing does a person have to do to see a place? #1 answers the question about airports. I suspect you need to do a bit more research on where you are going if you're asking a question like this.
I spent 2 months covering what #1 describes, and I still didn't manage more than about half of what I would have liked to see/do. On the other hand, some people go to a holiday resort and stay there for a week, maybe take a day trip, and are happy with that. You can do what you want, fill as much time as you want. Lots of possibilities. Don't worry about the time. Make the best of what you give yourself. But you owe it to your own trip to do a bit of research.
I didn't consider it expensive, and for fulfilling the S Pacific island fantasy, it was a good choice. More expensive than SE Asia, not as expensive as much of Europe -- or other S Pacific island nations. I stayed away from the relatively more expensive resort areas of the Yasawas, etc. Spent more time in towns on Viti Levu and generally more time towards the east (Ovalau,Vanua Levu, Taveuni). Used public transport, basically did things on my own (no tours). Obviously, more money spent means more creature comforts, but I found a decent balance at the low-end of things. | 2
