Hi, We will be travelling with a toddler in Fiji in a weeks time, just a bit nervous about it. Our little girl is 1 1/2. Do we need a booster seat for taxis? Just how unsafe is Fiji (Suva) after dark? How easy is it to get around?
You are best to take a booster seat with you as they will not be provided by local taxi's. It's not the law over there to have under 5 year olds in booster seats, at least it wasn't 2 years ago when I lived there. Suva is pretty safe as long as you keep to the main streets and don't go wondering down any dark ally's , but with a 1 1/2 year old I wouldn't expect you to be wondering around the streets late at night anyway. If in doubt just catch a taxi from place to place and speak to the driver, they will tell you the safe areas and take you there and pick you up again when you are ready to leave. There isn't really a lot to see in Suva but plenty of good restaurants and bars. If you are looking for a good place to ate and drink I suggest you go down to the Suva bowling club. Good food and cheap drinks and very safe. | 1
Thanks heaps, that is very useful advice | 2
Hi again, Any ideas for a family friendly resort around Suva (not necessarily Denarau)? | 3
Firstly Denarau is in Nadi about 2 1/2 hours away from Suva. Pacific Harbour is the closest to Suva about 40 mins and there are a couple of good resorts there. The Coral coast has alot of good resorts it all depends what you want to pay and what you want at a resort as each has something different to offer. | 4
