Vatia Lailai or Yanuca info?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I am trying to dredge up information on either island, but mostly the penninsula between the two. I know there are several upscale resorts on both islands, and that both islands look like they have great diving, but that's about it. Has anyone dove/bodysurfed in the area, or know anything at all about the area in general, other than about the Surf and Shangri-la resorts? I am looking to spend 2-3days diving, and it would be ideal if the area had other attractions/laid back atmosphere for the one non-diver in the party. Any help would be terrific!

Dunno about the other island but Yanuca is wholly occupied by the Shangri-la Fijian hotel.

Activities at the Fijian - http://www.shangri-la.com/en/property/yanucaisland/fijianresort/health/activity/inandonthewater
include diving. There is a dive centre in the hotel open all day.

To surf in the area, you will need to take a boat beyond the reef protecting the island and this can be organised at the dive centre.

Your best bet might be to stay at or near the Hideaway Resort - see here - http://www.destination360.com/australia-south-pacific/fiji/fiji-surfing.php

Thanks Mandja, but I am not looking to really do surfing, but just body surfing. I am more interested in the areas, as the LP and Barefoot guides both leave the peninsula out completely.

"I am more interested in the..., as the LP and Barefoot guides both leave the peninsula out completely"

Probably because it's Private Property -as is all land in Fiji.
