Visiting Fiji with limited mobility...

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

My husband and I are planning our 10th anniversary trip to Fiji next year for 10 days in early November. We're leaning toward 5 days in the Yasawas and a few days in Taveuni. We don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of a busy town, but can't be completely remote either due to my limited mobility. I walk with a cane due to painful arthritis in my feet. We're 30, so we're past being interested in the college party islands but not wanting to restrict ourselves to senior citizen activities either. Willing to pay Mid-range, looking for a romantic location. Snorkeling and white sand beach relaxing are a must (no kids with us!); my husband also wants to golf and try hunting (Taveuni?) Where should we go that will be accessible for me, but not boring for him? Has anyone stayed at Nanunya Island Resort in the Tree House bures? I'm wondering if I can make it up the hill...How about Paradise Taveuni Resort? Does it have a decent beach out front? It's hard to tell from the photos on the website. We're so excited to travel by ourselves for the first time in years...!

There is no beach at Paradise Taveuni. You access the water down a ladder and the snorkeling is very good just a few feet from shore.
Great Firelight fish that come in to the cove at night as well.
There is a beach along the road and you can snorkel around the coast to that beach.

I would recommend Mana Island Resort in the Yasawas. It has a dock for landing whereas a lot of the other resorts will require wading ashore from the boat, although I would imagine you could request assistance with the landing. Mana is a larger island with several lovely beaches and great snorkeling from the shore. They have a variety of accommodations with the beach front bures providing a romantic location. Check out Expedia as they sometimes have really good prices for Mana Island.

Mana is actually in the Mamanuca's and you can fly in as well as transfer by boat.
Did not like the Buffet's covered with flies at Mana and also got a case of Campylobacter from bad chicken.
