Viti Levu

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

My common law and I are heading to Fiji for 2 weeks in June.
Were booked for 5 days @ the Oarsmans and 5 days @ Octopus before heading back to the main land.
The idea was to spend some time exploring what Viti Levu has to offer before heading back home....and to be honest I'm less that thrilled with the options. I have a feeling that I'm not looking hard enough, or in the right places. I'm interested in the geothermal mud, but nothing else really is jumping at me.
Anyone have any suggestions as to where to camp out that is central to some intersting day trips....or even just a nice enough place to enjoy the amenities?

Any suggestions at all would be welcome.

We enjoyed Rainforest Lodge, a few kms outside Suva and right next door to the Colo-i-suva forest park. You can hike in the park, very pleasant, can also request a guide if you want to do birdwatching/plant id, or hike outside park opening hours----there is a fee, but not expensive. The resturant/cafe at the lodge has good food reasonably priced and is right next to a large pond----no mosquitoes when we were there. Our double room had a balcony overlooking another pond.

I think you would be better asking this on TripAdvisor. Here's a link to some really good information:
