Weather in July

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there

My wife and I are going to be in Fiji for 10 days near the end of July. Can anyone tell me what weather we can expect? It won't be the rainy season but will it be sun-bathing weather on the beach, or will be need warmer clothes?

Thanks in advance for any replies

Best wishes

Neil

Great time to go, very nice, not too much rain in July, very sunny. Not cold at all, just cool on a few nights, maybe a light jacket needed on some nights. Plenty of time on the beach, yet pleasant and not too humid. Better than Jan/Feb. Have fun!

Can I add to Raro's advice - it may depend on which part of Fiji you are staying. We went once in July and spent a week on the eastern side (Suva, Ovalau & Caqelai) - and nearly froze as I had done my usual packing for Fiji and not put in even a long sleeved T-shirt - at Caqelai even resorted to wrapping myself in newspaper as we huddled in our bure out of the rain. But that was very unusual - and when we moved to the western side (Nadi, Yasawas) it was just as Raro says.

It does depend somewhat on the part of Fiji. Early august, around Suva, Ovalau I also met with a fair bit of rain, but fortunately not as cold as TaiMarilyn describes. Good beach weather during the day, pleasant at night. I was on a RTW trip and had warmer clothes with me -- long shirt, fleece, etc. Certainly didn't hurt having that with me, mostly for the sometimes coolish evenings.

Less chance of rain out west at the Yasawas.
