wedding in Fiji - Where???

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi the travel agents are useless and so i have come here hoping to get some more specific answers if you could please help.

Ok, I know its miles away but I have just gotten engaged and we are planning on having our wedding in Fiji on May 30th 2009, can't have it next year as im pregnant and due in April.

Anyway, we will have a 4 year old and a 1 year old by the time we go to Fiji and we are also inviting close friends and family to come to our wedding. We have been told not to have the wedding on the mainland and and we are better of getting married on 1 of the smaller islands where the beaches are mor pituresque and the atmosphere isn't as "rough". So I have sme travel brochures but I am still confused as to which area and resort we should stay at. Heres some of my requirements -

BEAUTIFUL BEACH
ISLAND BIG ENOUGH FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO BOOK ACCOMMODATION TO STAY WITH US
ACTIVITIES FOR OUR KIDS AND GUEST KIDS SO THEY ARE AMUSED FOR A WEEK OR SO AFTER THE CEREMONY
MINIMUM 4 STAR RESORT

Does anyone know how much tickets are from MEL to Fiji?? Roughly? Just trying to work out a budget for planning this whole wedding.

Any other advise weclome

Thanks

The Fijian Resort sounds ideal for you - go here.

Hi there, The Coral Coast hotels with the like of Shangri La's Fijian, The warwick Fiji Resort & Spa will be ideal for your wedding. However it will be even better if you have your wedding on an Island. I'm definitely recommending castaway island Resort. If you book well ahead you will be able to book all your families. Good Luck and Safe Travels

Hi happyfreeman

Castaway was the one i was first interested in but i noticed it has no air con or fans so it put me off a little, but i loved the look of the resort, and yes i would prefer my wedding on one of the islands.

#2, technically, the Fijian is on an island - it is connected to the Coral Coast via a causeway. It's island is 26 acres in size and occupies all of it (incl the golf course).

Im going to fiji in oct / nov 07 and we are staying at the newest hilton... although i know of the Malolo Island Resort which is not far from danararau . Just remember that when you arrive if you go on the outer islands you have to fly to the islands and that is one day wasted on transferes... If you stay on the coral coast or denararu you can take day trips to many of the islands and enjoy the luxury of staying put in one hotel ... that way you can explore more of the islands... Have a great wedding and read as many reviews on hotels as you can....Oh the raddison is very nice....
