If I leave los angeles at 11PM on august 2, and arrive in Fiji at 5 am after a 10 hour flight................
That's: What Day is it ? | 1
Ok, this one is easy...call your air carrier. | 2
I'm gonna guess August 4th. (I wouldn't take my word for it, but would look at the schedule online. They usually indicate something like plus 1 day. So normally leaving at 11pm and arriving at 5am it would be the 3rd, if it's plus one day then the 4th.) | 3
I agree - it's August 4th. You cross the date line on this flight, so lose a day on the way out, and gain a day on the way back. | 4
Pagoo, could you call my air carrier? It's Air pacific. Thanks | 5
"...on arriving at 5am & catching a boat" - once you are through customs/duty free - wander across the road from the airport (or take a taxi - but it's a 5 minute walk) to the Raffles Gateway Hotel. You can get some breakfast there, & be ready to catch the bus that picks up from there for the Yasawa Flyer around 7.30am. They will tell you at Reception the exact time. The cost of the bus is included in your boat ticket. | 6
Thanks all, I've used a globe, calender and a stop-watch and the 4th looks like the right date. Next maybe someone can explain a lunar eclips for me....not yet! | 7
Doesn't everybody?? | 8 | |
check your ticket. the arrival information is USUALLY (i say usually, because invariably this will be the time it doesn't) has local times and dates for arrival times. | 9
sneaker, at the time of my post, I didn't have the ticket info, as I live in a country that isn't allowed to buy tix online. My brother in the US made the purchase and there was lag time in me getting dates. Got them now, and got room booked...thanks again | 10
boy your wife is picky isn't she? Imagine wanting to have a room reserved for the right day. I suppose she is going to insist that you know what day you leave too so that you get to the airport to catch your flight and not 24 hours early or late. Some people are truly obsessive compulsive about things. | 11
ahh...right. | 12 | |
On tickets and airline itinieraries when you cross the Dateline from east to west, it will usually include, after the time of arrival, something like "1", or in your case "2". This is the standard indication within the airline/travel industry. | 13
5waldos, I cant begin to tell ya.... | 14
....she's the type that insists on things like brushing her teeth every day...some times it drives me nuts! | 15
