What is Taxi Cost from Lautoka to Rakiraki ?

Bula! Going to Fiji in January and will be needing a taxi from Lautoka to Rakiraki as the bus appears to take 4 hours. What is the approximate cost these days for that journey?

We lived in Lautoka for 2 years 2010-2012, so a bit out of date, but it was about $1 per km then - quite cheap, but I would strongly recommend that you take the bus. It can be an unforgettable experience in its own right, and probably safer. Negotiate the price before you commit, otherwise you will pay a lot more.
Our favourite taxi driver in Lautoka was Ali. He was always totally reliable. His stand was across the road from the bus station on the main road. His phone number is 9937776. Tell him Peter & Margaret send their very best regards and he will probably charge you double :)
We once circumnavigated Viti Levu by bus over 4 days. Great fun!

Thanks Peter & Margaret- I loved riding with the locals on the buses and shared vans in Fiji when I was there several years back, and will most likely do that when I arrive next month. It doubles the cultural experience and I want my friends to have that experience as well. If we do need a taxi, I will give Ali a ring.
