Where else to stay in Fiji?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I'm spending a week at Paradise Cove Resort and am looking for a second stop for another 2-3 days for a change of scene before flying home. We are considering whether to pick another island on the boat route (maybe Octapus but might be too similar to Paradise Cove?) or picking somewhere on Viti Levu so we can see more local life/do some sightseeing with a hire car etc. Not sure where we would pick on Viti Levu - Denerau doesn't sound like it is for us (don't like huge resorts and want somewhere that feels a bit more Fijian). Coral Coast then? Any recommendations of hotels to look at (mid-range, not too many kids, somewhere to swim, good food)? Thanks in advance for any advice!

The Coral Coast around Sigatoka is good, and so is actually Suva if you don't insist on being on a beach again.

I wouldn't get a hire car, the roads are not good, an the intercity buses are cheap, you could come to pacific harbour and do a trip up the Navua River, lots of waterfalls and a village visit, have a night in Suva, visit the Museum, check out and colo-i-suva forest park, and then take the bus around the island on the kings road back to Nadi or Lautoka for your departure,

Seeing as you're in the Yasawas I'd stay at either Viwa Island, or Botoira - both beautiful and secluded, much less busy than Paradise Cove. If you want something more similar to Paradise Cove (bar/pool/facilities) then Octopus would be better. I've written a post about a couple of the islands here if that helps: Fiji for the island hopper

Or if you want something a bit more party/backpackers stay at Beachcomber (I think its a bit cheaper than the above too).

Best food we had was Paradise Cove & Nanuya Island resort. More restaurant style. The others are more traditional Fijian. You'll get plenty of traditional/local life on the islands - you can do village visits & cava ceremonies on most of them!

Hi, just reading your helpful advice. Can you please elaborate on different trips up Navua River, which I am considering doing? They seem 'pricey' to me. I'd appreciate your advice.
