Where to fly from Fiji?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are going to Fiji next year for a wedding, we are going at the beginning of August. We are wanting a second destination to go to after the wedding. We have been to NZ before and that is definitely an option for us. We are wondering what other places we could visit close to Fiji. To give an idea of budget if we were to stay in NZ we would be there for around a week, spending around 1200 on accommodation, 800 for skiing passes and $1600 for additional flights.

We are flying out of and returning to Sydney.

Thanks,

Depending on your interests, any of the neighbouring Pacific island countries could be an option, too: Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu or New Caledonia are the closest.
Vanuatu and NC are also kind of on the way back towards Australia.
I'd probably choose New Caledonia for its mix of French and Pacific flavour.
Or of course NZ, if you prefer a "Western" country and skiing.

If you want to ski,I guess your options are pretty limited in that region......

Hi i would recommend Tonga. Between late July to early October its whale swim/ watch season. It's an experience that you will never regret. Snorkeling/island hopping/ island tour. To top it off the weather is just right.
check this site out it would give you an idea of how much it is for a day trip whale swim/watch. We also have accommodation from low, mid to high range. Just contact Liz she can help you out. It's a very laid back island. Looking forward to hearing from you if Tonga would be an option.

you can fly fiji airways from Nadi to Christchurch direct and then get across to Queenstown or other southern ski slopes and then ChCh back across to Sydney. For other tropical locations I can vouch for Samoa, Noumea and New Caledonia. All 3 should have direct flights back to Sydney.
