which islands have credit card facilities?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I am heading to Fiji in September and im trying to plan exactly what im going to do!

I want to do the Bula Pass (island hopping the yasawa's!) but realise as there are no ATM's around and very few places that accept credit card, I would have to carry a lot of cash around with me as im there for 2 weeks.

Does anybody know which islands/resorts have credit card facilities on? (im on a backpacker budget, so I don't want fancy fancy hotels. Just nice places with dorms!)

A few places im looking at is Manta Ray, Octopus(which I know gets booked up quickly!) and Oarsmans Bay.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi, take a few hundred cash for everyday stuff just to be sure (small notes for local markets or snacks on the boat) other than that most of your costs will be prepaid if you are getting a Bula Pass for accom and yasawa boat travel (if you need to change a reservation or transfer that is extra they also take credit card onboard. All of the resorts you mention (I've been to all, all are good) do take credit card and you sign everything up to your room (or bed number if in a dorm) and pay by credit card on departure. Just keep in mind though that your credit card company will bite you on international transaction fees each time you use your card so when you know you are finally leaving perhaps use the cash up and save on pesky bank fees. Enjoy!

Octopus definitely will charge to your credit card. If you're there after the 26 September I'll watch out for you!

2

Most resorts accept credit cards, and certainly Octopus and Oarsmans. There are ATMs in Nadi and at the airport and Denerau.

Also, if booking other resorts on the Flyer (which is how you use the Bula Pass), you can pay for any Yasawa resort by credit card.
