Will we make our flight?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

We are ready to book our flights but is concerned re: whether we'll be able to make a 2020 flight at Nadi airport, when the Yasawa flyer arrives at 0545-6pm. Any words of wisdom? thanks

Possible but very risky I reckon.
Couple of months ago the Flyer lost an engine and was 3 hours late. Lots of people missed flights.
Couple of weeks ago we came back from the Yasawas and it arrived on time but it took us almost an hour to get our luggage.
Then it is maybe 20 minutes by cab to the airport and there are currently roadworks on the way with flag men stopping the traffic because it is only one way at a time. I expect that road work will be active for quite a while too.
The check in for your flight will close an hour before takeoff time.

Cheers,
Peter

We have done just that in reasonably comfortable time - but you can never know in advance of holdups. If you can keep your luggage with you on the boat you would not have to wait for the trolley to get to the unloading area. From the sound of Peter's recent experience maybe you shouldn't risk it! Where are you coming from? If it was Octopus - they have their own boat which would get you back to the mainland in plenty of time. I don't know of other resorts that have own boats - if coming from the Blue Lagoon area maybe a seaplane?

The float plane is Turtle Airways and you can connect with it from Nanuya Resort.
F$275 per person (one way).
Email Aruna..... reservations.turtleairways at gmail.com
Flight time is approximately 30 minutes – this is to Wailoaloa beach, Nadi (20 mins drive from International airport).
Note that the luggage allowance is 15kg per person and extra costs F$5 perkg.

We stayed at Nanuya Resort a couple of weeks ago. You won't be dissapointed.
Make sure you go on the cave trip.

no worries but best to save time by telling the boys onboard you need your bags asap on landing (so they wont be buried) and would like to take them off yourself as you disembark which will save waiting like all the others for the tractor to bring them in, then you can grab a cab for $20 or 30 and head to the airport, you could probably pre book this so you know he'll be there just for you. Fine but do able no worries.
