Would you recommend the Matamanoa Island Resort?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

Hi there!

Is the Matamanoa Island Resort a good place to stay for a couple? We are looking to visit the first week of August. We have never been to Fiji so please let me know what you thought about your stay there.

How was the food, water, service, what non-water activities are free, beach front bures, snorkelling?

Any advice is appreciated!

Gracias!

Thank you but I'd like a more personal response from LP travellers like myself.

Have been to most of the Mamanuca resorts and Matamanoa is definately near the top of the list.
Good international mix of guests and a well run resort.
Very good snorkeling, we snorkeled right around the island and the best was just out in front of the resort, a couple of bush tracks that you can walk.
Would put Vomo and Castaway Island Resorts ahead of Matamanoa but we enjoyed our stay there.

That's an interesting concept. I have no idea what an LP traveller is.

But I do know this much: very very few of the LP community who post here regularly go to the type of resort you had a question about. You're lucky to get one response. Come back in a month and there may or may not be another couple.

Given this observation, it seemed more helpful and useful to you to provide a link where there were already a large number of reviews, certainly a lot more than you're likely to get here.

But, perhaps I am missing something. Perhaps there is indeed something special about these LP types, even when it concerns the clientele of 5* accom.

Was on honeymoon 2 years ago & were on Matamanoa. Really is a tropical island, the people are wonderful, the resort spotless & the staff very friendly. It is one of the further islands from the mainland so due to our flight times we had to get a prviate boat out which was wonderful but it does add to the expense. We were there for 4 nights after being in Singapore, Oz & NZ & was our last stop on the way home so we were ready to relax. There are lots of watersports to do around the island, the breakfast lovely & the dinner excellent.

All in all I would have nothing bad to say about the island. We stayed in one of the beach front accomodation & I would recommend staying in them as they are amazing. I would not imagine the other accomodation would make it feel a 5* island but this did for us. The island is limited to 50 couples/people I think at any one time so you never feel over crowded & there is entertainment every evening in the bar. Have to say really enjoyed it but would not stay more than a couple of days as you sign for everything you have on the island & I remember one Canadian absolutely dreading his bill but ours was very reasonable for what we had on the island.

Thank you for the informational responses I received. For those who decided to response in an unkind manner, why don't you keep your "roasting" to yourselves and move on please.

Fly out on the chopper if you do go, you get a great view of the Mamanuca's and sometimes stop off at other islands on the way.
Air NZ were offering $2 flights each way with their holiday packages but the promotion ends today.
They have extended it once already so may extend again.
