yanuca island

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

hey everyone, i'm a novice at posting , so here goes - we have been invited to a wedding at the shangri la at yanuca island in may next year. It's a family do but nearly fainted at the expense of the hotel. we will be travelling with an four year old. we are old backbackers and also worry whether we will experience any of the REAL fiji. This is our first trip overseas with a child. is it better to just go with the hotel chosen or are there options. The hotel's site also says it will be undergoing renovations during that time but will keep disruptions to minumum (worried about that too).
hope you can help

There are many accomodation options in the Singatoka area at all price ranges, but it is not an area that we have chosen to stay in thus far.

Cheers,
Peter

thanks jb I don't think they have thought of a group rate, that well worth investigating. when you mean "advertised all the time " is that in the paper or online?.

is it easy to explore other villages/town from this resort or is it isolated.

thanks everyone

The Shangri-La is a wonderful hotel, especially with a 4 yo - if you can raise the $, then do go.
