Yasawa Budget Accomodations

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

We are travelling on a budget. Do you recommend Otto and Fanny's or David's Place? Others? Thanks,

I stayed at Otto & Fanny's in Jan this year for 2 nights. I don't know anything about Davids. Our twin bure was comfortable, the staff was very helpful & friendly, the meals are not mandatory - you can pay by the meal. It is on the end of the island nearest the best beach and best snorkeling and sunset, but still a 5 minute walk. It's not really a lounging beach, but it's a walking beach. When the tide comes in, there is very little beach at all. It's right next to David's so this will apply to that place too.

We stayed in the dorm one night, then switched to a bure. The dorm bath was terrible - felt downright dumpy. Avoid the dorm at all costs - a bure costs almost the same for 2 people.

I never felt settled there, it was like I was just passing through headed somewhere better. I feel bad saying this, because the people were really nice and it had a nice "local" feel.

We moved across the water to Oarsman's and completely loved it. Gorgeous view, beach with floats/chairs & snorkeling, sunsets, friendly atmosphere among travelers, well kept little bungalows, day trip options. You are going all the way to Fiji, splurge.
