Yasawa Flyer

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I will be staying at the Octopus Resort and for variety thought I'd travel out on their boat and back on the Flyer.

Does anyone think this is not a good idea?

Do I need to book the Flyer before hand?

If I don't, how do I book it there - from the resort? and do I need to have cash to pay or do they accept credit card?

Thanks

Rocky

Easy - no need to book ahead, just ask the resort to book it for you when you arrive. And they accept credit card on the boat.

I travelled round the Yasawas on the flyer, it's fine, You can book online if you want, on the awesome adventures fiji website.

We took the Flyer to Octopus and returned on the Octopus boat. The Flyer is a fairly large boat with A/C and other amenities. It takes longer as it drops off people at different islands but you get the chance to enjoy the view. The Octopus boat is quite a bit smaller and will go direct - a basic, no frills ride.

The flyer is a very comfortable way to travel - nice sundeck, aircon room downstairs, toilets, even a snack bar. The Octopus boat is a small skiff, and it can be a rough ride if there's a bit of a breeze around.

Octopus boat leaves from Denarau a couple of hours later than the Flyer, and gets to Octopus an hour or so later than the Flyer

for bookings, you can book online or at the resort (they call and make the booking for you), and can pay by credit card (online, at the resort, or on the boat).

Considering the small price difference, I'd go with the Flyer both ways - on the way out you'll have the morning sun rising, on the way back you'll get sunset over the islands.

Cheers

I second catching the Flyer both ways. Whilst Octopus is paradise, their boat isn't so much... we caught their boat out and the Flyer back and the Flyer is much more comfortable. It was quite rough on their boat and the captain said it was only a 2/10 day on the wave scale! For the extra few dollars, go the Flyer.

Thanks for all the useful comments

If you have a package deal at Octopus, their boat is usually included in the price.
