Yasawa Is. I want an awesome time, but on a budget. help!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji

I am going to Fiji in July and was interested in spending some time in the Yasawah Islands group. I was wondering if anyone has used the Yasawah Accomadation Voucher through Yasawa Islands Backpackers i think it is. It's like the package they sell where you basically get a bula pass to island hopp as much as you want and a inclusive voucher for so many days to stay at any of their places on the various islands. It seems like you save a lot of money and are pretty free to do what you like.

I guess i just wanna hear some ideas from people who have been there, or people who have booked and used this kind of package and what your experience was like and if youd reccomend it. I am in my mid 20's, single, love to snorkle, dive, hike, and pretty much everything else, traveling by myself or possibly with a friend, and im looking to be able to have a great experience but also not spend tons of money. Any comments and reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you are going to be in the Yasawa's in July let me know. Maybe we can coordinate and do some snorkeling and drink kava together. Always fun to make new & interesting friends from around the world to travel and have adventures with. Thanks

Matt

I spent 2 weeks in the yasawas island hopping on a bula pass. I didn't get the accom. vouchers and I'm really glad I didn't... for one thing, not all of the accom. is available with it, and the good places that is has additional charges that you still have to pay. I met a lot of people who ended up actually paying MORE with the accomodation voucher on a per-night basis at the places they stayed than I was paying for the same places. Didn't hear about anybody actually saving money by using the vouchers.

We stayed at Otto & Fanny's and would totally recommend it. The dive crowd is good and will collect you from where ever you choose to stay.
