Yasawa Islands in MayCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Fiji
Hi There, Myself and my wife (both 30) are planning a 12-14 day trip from Australia to Fiji in May. The aim is to lay on the beach, read a good book, swim and do a little exploring. Our budget for accom per night is around $300-$400FJD. We're looking at both the Blue Lagoon Beach Resort and Nanuya Island Resort. Couple of questions:
Thanks in advance! | ||
You've already selected two with the best reputations, but I'd suggest adding one more in there. Octopus is pretty good (not as good as Blue Lagoon, but quite similar). Most places run on a weekly schedule, so after 7 days you're back to the same theme nights, same/similar meal, etc. Island hopping is quick and easy, so rather than getting re-runs, move somewhere new at least weekly. At most places, 3-4 nights is plenty and allows for ample relaxation time. | 1
I think they're the best choices, but I'd probably put one more in the mix such as Botaira (fijian run) or Octopus (run by same mob as Blue Lagoon so similiar) . Since Blue Lagoon is a long trip (4 1/2 hours) you could break it up with Octopus or Botaira say on the way up or back? That what we're intending to do next trip. | 2
agre with tch, 6 days is plenty then move on | 3
Nanuya is incredible, incredible, incredible. I've been to Fiji 14 times, and Nanuya is my favorite resort. | 4
hi mkel, I share your enthusiasm for the Yasawas too though have never stayed on Nanuya itself (snorkelled in the Blue lagoon and wandered up their beach). What is it that makes Nanuya so nice for you and keen for your comparison of others in the area you may have stayed at. I personally like the 'rustic' vibe of the other resorts but appreciate you pay more you get more in the likes of Nanuya. Keen on your thoughts as I just may try it next visit as I've been to Blue Lagoon Beach Resort and the place next to it ?? as well as quite a few others up the and down the coastlines. | 5
Hey :) I spend two weeks in Yasawa (Bounty, Octopus, Botaira, Korovu, Nanuya, Blue lagoon resort) and definitely Nanuya is THE BEST!! Everything, from the beach, snorkelling, staff, food (thankfully they don't have a meal plan so you eat whenever you are hungry), lovely bures, really amazing. Octopus was my second favourite, blue lagoon resort was nice, Bounty was nice for the price, Korovu was a back-up plan, because we didn't like Botaira and stayed there for just one night. Botaira is ok, but definitely!!! not worth the price! In our opinion 4 days on one island is great... before Fiji we travelled around New Zealand for 2 months and staying put for a week even on a paradise island would be too much :) You think you need to relax, but after 3 days you need some action and a new location for snorkeling :) I've heard really nice reviews about Navutu stars and Mana island as well and travelling around the islands is a piece of cake, the yellow boat is like a paradise bus - takes you from one amazing location to the next one :) p.s. If you go to Nanuya, ask for bure no.12 ;) The highest one on the hill with the most spectacular view!! Enjoy Fiji!!! | 6
