yasawas beachcomber

i would recommend any one going to the yasawas to stay away from the beachcomber if you any requirements other than a cool bar. I went there and had to upgrade to a private room (which was terrible and ridiculously overpriced) because the dorm there was the worst I have ever seen travelling anywhere!!! It resembled a giant army camp with everyone sleeping just feet from the person beside them. The food was terrible, we were served left over egg sandwiches from breakfast for lunch. The beach is crap and full of rocks, you need shoes to walk around, the reef was boring. And they overcharge you for everything, if you want pop with a mixed drink its an extra 85c and the 30 min ferry ride back to the mainland cost you $62. And to top everything the staff was rude and unhelpful. Go the OCTOPUS RESORT it is absolute paradise and I plan to return very soon.

Maybe you are right or maybe its just you, either way I've been there on and off over 20 years and always found it very good. Last time a few staff even genuinely remembered me as I walked up the beach. Octopus is great too but maybe might be for a slightly older crowd. I like both but for a quick trip Beachcomber is easier to get to. Oh, and if you don't want the big dorm, just ask for the smaller dorm overlooking the left side beach. Enjoy! C.
