6 Hours in GuamCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Guam
I have a 6-hour layover in Guam on an upcoming trip. I would love to see any historical or natural sights close to the airport. Are there any quick day trips that can be organized from the airport? Any interesting sights nearby? I am a U.S. citizen and am going on to Yap from Guam. Thanks for any tips or suggestions.
I don't know about the day trips but one place that you should definitely visit is Two Lovers Point. It is a bluff high above the sea with great views of Tumon Bay. It is about 7km (north) from the airport so you could take a taxi there. And back. Pay your $3 to enter into the viewing platform there. Very nice spot. Lots of people go to get married there. A trip to Two Lovers point and a stop in at the Micronesia Mall, which is on the way, would be a good way to get a feel for Guam. | 1
I asked this question, but having returned from my trip, wanted to follow up in case others have a similar question. I found Guam Shuttle Services and had Ron Batimama arrange a tour. Ron was also my driver and guide. I expressed an interest in WWII sites. Even though it was evening and not optimal time, he took me around to a number of interesting sites that I could still visit. He was a great guide, full of interesting info. I would not hesitate to recommend his services if you have some time to spend on Guam. He's not cheap but well worth it.
