Can I get around the Marianas Islands from Guam by boats?

I absolutely hate flying but have the opportunity go to Guam for 6 weeks starting in December. I only want to stay in Guam for a week or so and then head out to visit other islands incluing Sipan. Can I go by boat, ie a normal pasanger carrying boat to other islands from Guam. Is this a good county to center my 6 weeks of traveing aound the islands.

Guam is the center, but only if you fly. I don't think that there is much in the way of boat trips between the islands, although I vaguely remember somebody saying something about a boat to Saipan. If you want to go to the other islands of Micronesia- Palau and Yap to the west, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrea to the east- you pretty much have to fly. But many of the flights are so early in the morning that by the time you wake up you'll be there. Certainly worth doing- spending 6 weeks in the region and only doing Guam would be a terrible waste.
