Thoughts on this brief South Pacific itinerary?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Guam
I see this board doesn’t get a lot of post but hopefully someone can offer a few words of wisdom. I’m an expat based in Shanghai and looking for somewhere warm to go for Chinese New Year. I’m thinking of flying to Guam for about 3 days and then continuing on to Yap, Micronesia for 4 full days. I’d fly back to Shanghai from Yap after that. Is 3 days on Guam way to much? Most of the post here ask about 6 hour lay overs. Is 3 days overkill? Between when Chinese New Year starts and the Guam-Yap flights, it looks like I’ll have to spend a few days on Guam. I don’t have anything specific in mind about what I want to do, just see another part of the world, a few pacific islands. Given that I only have 8, maybe 9 days tops, this seems like a decent option to get a glimpse of it.
I'm from Guam, born and raised now living in Los Angeles. 3 days is way too much for Guam. You can honestly see everything in 1 day. I'm assuming you aren't there for department store and designer name brand shopping because shanghai beats Guam in that department. I would recommend visiting island nature locales "2 lovers point" and "Talofofo falls" and maybe snorkeling. Other than that there really isn't anything unique that you can't get in shanghai. Yap is good for scuba diving but Philippines is really where you want to go for scuba diving. | 1
