Transit formalities at Guam Airport

A friend and his family - all British citizens - are going from Manila to Truk (Chuuk) via Guam on Continental Airlines. When they check-in at Manila Airport, will they be able to book their luggage all the way to Truk and remain on the 'Airside' at Guam airport as transit passengers? Or, since Guam is a US territory, will they have to go through the laborious process of collecting their luggage, going through immigration etc?

Normally your luggage will be checked all the way to Chuuck and you won't have to reclaim them in Guam. However you need to go through immigration and yuu need to apply for an electronic travel authorization.
