A group of Europeans currently in the US is thinking about visiting Christmas Island. Does anyone here know the easiest way to get to Christmas Island by air from North America? I know Aloha Airlines used to have a weekly charter between Honolulu and Christmas Island, but I think it's been discontinued. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know from being in Tarawa in '98 & '99 that the trip to Kiritimati was a very long and expensive one. There were no internal flights at all - the "easiest" way was to travel internationally via Fiji and Hawaii.
Given the geography, it doesn't seem possible to come up with a more practical air route than access via Hawaii.

thats the only option at current.
