Spending Easter 2011 on Tarawa - any tips?

We are spending 6 days on Tarawa over Easter.
Why?
Because we can!
Booked into Marys Motel and are essentially "plan-less" beyond that.
Travelling on a budget but don't want to find out about something later that we should have done or seen or experienced.
Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Check out my post on Kiribati on the top of the Kiribati branch, and the local tourism office's site I linked to.

Basically, you will have a choice of rather similar outer islands/atolls to visit.
Most only have very basic accommodation run by the island council and no organized activities whatsoever for tourists.

Tarawa, Abemama and Butritari and perhaps Abiang are the only atolls with a bit more choice, I think.

You could easily fill 6 days on Tarawa alone, especially if visiting North Tarawa (which you should!).
