micronesia for non-divers

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Micronesia, Federated States of

hi there,
i'm traveling with my mom to micronesia the beginning of nov. neither of us are divers so we're really just looking to lounge about on beautiful beaches maybe do some snorkeling, kayaking and trek to a waterfall. since it's just the 2 of us we'd like to be somewhere safe and hopefully not too expensive. any suggestions on islands and accommodation would be very much appreciated.
thanks!!

Hello cjallasia!

My first choice would be Kosrae. (FSM)
Trekking and snorkelling is good, kayaking is superb! (wonderful lagoon, secluded beaches, islets, a maze of mangrove channels - but still impossible to get lost) People are friendly and there are few tourists around.
Stay at Pacific Tree Lodge http://www.divekosrae.com (like me) or Kosrae Nautilus. http://www.kosraenautilus.com Both have kajaks and easy access to mangrove channels and lagoon.

Second choice, Palau.
Trek to the impressive Ngardmau Waterfall, snorkel in Jellyfish Lake, kajak among the spectacular Rock Islands....
See http://www.visit-palau.com for listing of accomodation.
I sayed at Guest Lodge Motel. Inexpencive, friendly and good location in central Koror.
