negative experience with the Pathways Hotel at Yap

In January 2013 we visited Micronesia and Palau for 4 weeks.
Yap was a highlight of our tour.
Unfortunately we had bad luck with Hotel.
Because of the good critics on Internet we decided for the Pathways Hotel.
As we arrived at 0:45 in the night, we were shocked about the bungalow.
The bedsheet and the blanket were very dirty, a lot of mosquitos were in the room and no mosquitonet above the bed, and it was raining from the ceiling, because of the rain outside.
A second bungalow, which was shown to us, was not already cleaned and the situation not much better.
It was not possible for us to stay in one of their bungalows.
So we decided at 2:00am in the night to change the hotel and walked to the very nice and clean "E.S.A Bay View Hotel".
We have made a deposit of 385US$ in advance. We were told, that this deposit will be credited to our account.
But we got no money back.

So we CAN NOT RECOMMEND the Pathways Hotel!!!

But this was the only negative experience at our trip and we enjoyed Yap very much.

Why didn't you ask any questions on this forum before you visited Yap?

This kind of post makes TT regulars a little suspicious. ???

Since 30 years we travel all over the world and we always look at internet for informations. But most of this Informations for the Pathways Hotel were fine, also the rating at the Lonley Planet Homepage! This is the reason, why we posted this comment.

Update for the bad experience at the Pathways Hotel (see our posting one year ago):
Now one year is gone and we didn't got back our deposit as promised several times.
Three months ago, the General manager of the Pathways Hotel told us, that the hotel is in trouble with the money (insolvent) and they are unable to pay anything right now. He told us that it will be possible, that the hotel will be closed.
So take care for your money and don't pay any deposit in advance!
