Travel agents dealing with Micronesia

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Micronesia, Federated States of

I am trying to book a trip in October combining land-based stuff in Yap and a liveaboard in Palau (from London via Manila). It's proving really quite complex to put together (and some pretty heroic prices being quoted as well) and the two Guam travel agents i've got looking at it aren't being that useful. Does anyone have any local travel agent recommendations?

Local where? On island? I don't think that would be your best route.
For the liveaboard, I'd check diving sites or magazines- they would be best and sometimes you can get great prices for the combination of air fare and diving. There are only a few options. The prices are going to be steep. London via Manila- I got a very cheap bucket ticket in London some years ago. From Manila you have the choice of AirMicronesia or Continental. Unfortunately, they are one and the same thing. Land based in Yap I'd do when you get there. We had the hotel find us a local guide and had a great time. I wouldn't go to Guam unless you have a very good reason to and I'm not really sure they would know a lot about Palau and Yap- Saipan and Tinian maybe but points west or east- wouldn't surprise me if they didn't know a lot.

From London I would also see if there are round the world fares which include continental- of course that means probably getting US visas- possibly a pain. It is unlikely, but a fantasy I always have. Good Luck-
