| 098765432108:52 UTC21 May 2007 | Hi there,
I will soon travel from Sydney to North America and want to go via Micronesia and other Islands in that region. I have about 6-8 weeks and have a few things I would like to do see:
1. Snorkelling in the jellyfish lake in Palau 2. Seeing stone money on Yap 3. A few wreck dives in Chuuk Lagoon
I also heard nice things about Kosrae and Pohnpei and also Kiribati. Has anyone doen a similar trip and can give me some advice on the itinerary, (cheap?) places to stay, getting around (between and also on the islands), diveshops, recommend particulat dive sites etc.
I was hoping to catch the Continental airlines flight out of Cairns to Guam and then on via other islands to Hawaii. Plus some extra side trips like palau and Yap, maybe Kiribati. Are there better alternatives? Local air passes?
I would like to do a few dives (maybe 10-15 in total, can be less) and also see a bit of the islands. I don't need many beach days and prefer sightseeing most days (which is why I tend to see many places in a relatively short time).
I am happy about any adivce!
Cheers,
J.

You do realize that you are going west to go east? But be that as it may, you would best go from Guam to Palau, then back to Yap, and return to Guam. Then take the island hopper to Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrea onto Hawaii. Kiribati is another trip altogether. Do remember that you have to have something like a day between your dive and flying. Alternately fly to Manila, then get a one way ticket in Manila to whereever you are going in the states. Take stops in Palau, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrea and then on to the states. That might be the cheapest way, especially since tickets from Manila are often reasonably cheap.

CO has this market pretty tied up. Try some of the various search engines like sidestep for an alternative fare from Continental's web site.
You should have a great time...enjoy !
