Buses around Grand Terre

Hi,
A friend and I will be visiting New Caledonia in a couple of weeks where we will be camping?

1) Is it possible to travel around Grand Terre by bus, as in will they take us close (ish) to camping ground areas on the coast?

2) We are hoping to do some treks which are more inland and was wondering if buses run along the smaller roads within the mainland?

1) Yes.

2) Only along 2-3 of them. Luckily, hitching is easy and a good way to get around where/when the buses don't run.
