Cheapest way to get from PNG to New Caledonia?

Does anyone know the best way to get from PNG to Noumea? Air Niugini and Airlines PNG don't go anywhere near, I wonder if there is a smaller airline that makes the hop?

Two possible options: PNG to Brisbane, then Brisbane to Noumea (probably cheapest) or PNG, Solomon Islands (Air Niugini) Port Vila (Air Pacific or Solomon Airlines) and from there I think there is a flight to Noumea.
Basically, there are few commercial flights linking Pacific countries.
